Your dress shoes should look like they are a part of the suit, long laces are to disturbing for the eye and destroy the overall look.
Always remember that the shoes are an essential part of the suit, they can complete it as well as they can ruin it.

Interesting.... My late father, a former Royal Marine taught me to tie my shoes like this when I was just a child. One feature of tying shoes this way is that the laces do not loosen as you tighten them !
